ADOPT A PUPPY

Adoption Process

  • To adopt a puppy, please complete our adoption application form at the bottom of this page.

  • Our goal is to place puppies in loving, responsible homes. We also enjoy building relationships with families and offer lifetime breeder support.

  • Once approved, you’ll be added to our waiting list and notified by email when a litter arrives.

  • Please note: sometimes our females may not get pregnant, or we may delay breeding for health reasons. This can extend wait times. Updates are always posted on our website, Facebook, and Instagram (@prairiewillowdogs). We also send out newsletters through email occasionally.

Breeding & Registration

  • All puppies are sold with a non-breeding contract.

  • Breeding rights are available to approved breeders for an additional fee.

  • CKC registration is available by request.

Reservation & Payment

  • Reservation Fee: $500 (non-refundable, valid for 2 years)

    • $250 due after your application is approved to join the waiting list.

    • $250 due once puppies are born to reserve a puppy from that litter.

  • Contact us for puppy adoption fee's. Prices vary by breed.

  • Families will be contacted in order of the waiting list.

    • Once you have been contacted, you have 24 hours to confirm interest and 36 hours to pay the 2nd fee before we move to the next family.

  • Payments: e-transfer to prairiewillowdogs@gmail.com.

  • Final balance is due at pick-up (cash or e-transfer). GST will be added.

Delivery & Pick-Up Options

  • Pick-up at our home: Free.

  • Local delivery (within 2 hours): $200 flat rate.

  • Across Canada: $1500 flat rate.

  • Maritimes: $2000 flat rate.

  • Puppies are ready to go home between 8-9 weeks old.

  • At 6 weeks, families are invited to a puppy visiting day to meet the puppies and parents.

Puppy Matching & Evaluations

  • At 52 days old, puppies are temperament tested using the BAB Puppy Evaluation Program.

  • Families choose puppies after evaluations and a vet health check are completed.

  • We help match puppies with families based on personality, energy, and household needs.

  • Families choose their puppy in order of where they are at on the waiting list. For example families who made a deposit in January will get to choose before families who made their deposit in March.

  • First and second pick puppies are reserved for breeders or service/therapy dogs.

  • In the event that we are unable to find the perfect fit based on color, sex, or personality, your deposit can be transferred to any of our future litters.
